Parneshia Jones to Receive the Adam Morgan Literary Leadership Award at the 2024 CHIRBy Awards

The Chicago Review of Books is proud to announce that Parneshia Jones, acclaimed poet and director of Northwestern University Press, will receive the Adam Morgan Literary Leadership Award at the 2024 Chicago Review of Books (CHIRBy) Awards!

An Evanston native, Parneshia first joined Northwestern University Press in 2003 as their marketing assistant and was eventually named the press’s director in 2020. In her long-running service to the press, she revitalized their historic TriQuarterly and Curbstone Books imprints and launched Seminary Co-Op Offsets. At the time of the announcement, Parneshia became one of only two Black women leading a university press. She has also served as president and board member of the Cave Canem Foundation and advisory board member of ShoreFront Legacy Center, a nonprofit that documents African American history on the North Shore of Chicago.

At a time when literary censorship is on the rise and publishing is under threat, Parneshia and the Northwestern University Press team are leading the way in publishing thoughtful and uncompromising works of literature and theory. Under Parneshia’s leadership, the press is redefining political writing and its possibilities to create change in our society.

We’re thrilled to present Parneshia Jones with this year’s Adam Morgan Literary Leadership Award!
